Dr. Howell earned her Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Howell then went on to complete a year of advanced dental training at Palmetto Health Richland’s General Practice Residency in Columbia, SC. Prior to attending dental school, Dr. Howell was awarded a research training grant to do biomedical research at the National Institute of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland. At NIH she worked with many renowned researchers and co-authored numerous medical journals.
Dr. Howell currently maintains a practice in Lexington, SC dedicated to high quality comprehensive care with an emphasis on prevention. Before going into private practice, Dr. Howell was a full time faculty member at Palmetto Health Richland’s Department of Dentistry.
Dr. Howell has advanced knowledge and clinical skills through her commitment to continuing education. She is currently an active faculty member of the Department of Dentistry at Palmetto Health Richland. Over the years, she has completed advanced training in numerous areas of dentistry including: implant dentistry, sedation dentistry and orofacial pain. In 2009, Dr. Howell completed The Orofacial Pain Mini Residency at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry. Dr. Howell attends numerous continuing education courses throughout the year. She is a member of the American Dental Association, The South Carolina Dental Association, The Academy of General Dentistry and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
Dr. Howell is very active in the Lexington community. She is a strong supporter of many local charities and fundraising organizations. She currently serves as a board member for the Lexington School District 1 Education Foundation and the Greater Columbia Dental Association. Dr. Howell resides in Lexington with her 2 children; where she enjoys fitness, kayaking, hiking, camping, interior design and spending time with her friends and family.
